10. Where does the information about cost of

materials/labor come from?

ProEst comes with one of our pre-built General, Mechanical or Electrical databases that contain thousands of standard industry items and assemblies, this information can also come from RSMeans, which is required if you are working with government agencies. The costs in the database are based on national averages, are easily updated for your local costs and can be adjusted to account for other regional or economic changes.

11. What is RS Means? Why do I need it?

RS Means are databases that come complete with city indexes that are used to accurately calculate costs for specific cities or regions. These databases include material cost, labor cost and labor productivity units. There are also equipment costs incorporated into each database. You will need RS Means if you are working with a government agency.
